The middle of January looked like this...

but the beginning looked like this...
I can take a little rain a couple weeks out of the year
if it means I get to enjoy sunsets like these :)
Jealous? Come visit me.

a case of the wednesdays

Ever have those days you feel like you should have stayed in bed? Today was such a day. I now know you can't escape Mondays. I didn't work Monday or Tuesday so instead I have a case of the Wednesdays.

Symptoms of the Wednesdays:
  1. Not sleeping well the previous night.
  2. Having the heavy, heavy blinds fall on your face as you are putting the doggy door up.
  3. Touching your nose to rub away the pain and find your hand covered in blood.
  4. Trying not to cry on the phone to your boss that you are going to be late because you can't get the bleeding to stop and you fear a giant scar will soon be present on your face.
  5. Client #2 for the day is adorable and from Ghana - and nobody speaks English. And he likes to throw things. And cry. And climb on things. And change his mind every 2 seconds. And his parents don't seem to mind any of the above.
  6. MORE rain.
  7. Client #3 is still sick. Coughs, hacks and sneezes all over me. Then screams. Then throws up. Then kicks me in the face.
If you have any of these symptoms...or similar tomorrow...stay in bed. You may have a case of the Thursdays.

I am going to bed.

blink and a decade will pass

I hadn't thought much about how 2010 begins a new decade until radio stations were playing tops songs from the past decade, newspapers were reporting the top stories of the past decade, and friends blogged about big events in the past decade. Oh. It IS a new decade. Sometimes I'm rather oblivious to the signs around me. So here is my short, short summary on the 00's:

Many trips were taken.
Lifelong friends were made.
A career change & return to school.
Discovered a love of running.
Family grew by 6.
Some heartache.
Move to San Diego.

It is hard to remember the details and dates of each event that occurred over the decade. What I remember most are the relationships and memories made with the incredible people in my life. (pause for an awww!) Most important thing I've learned over the past decade is to make sure the people close to me are quality. And they are. For that I am grateful tonight.

To the next ten years!

evil little molar

i have a tooth i really hate. pretty sure it hates me too after the way it has been acting. two crowns and two root canals did not satisfy this tooth. on wednesday i had a surgical procedure done as a last ditch effort to save the little buggar. i was awake the whole time, it was a weird feeling being numb but still feeling the dr. work. i kept trying to figure out what the dr. was doing. my curiosity got the best of me so i went home and watched videos of my procedure (apiectomy) on youtube. slightly morbid? be grateful i stopped short of posting a link on here. the next day i turned into sponge bob square jaw.

then it occurred to me....i should have had this done AFTER the weekend holiday parties. with a swollen jaw and stitches coming out of my mouth i wasn't the prettiest girl at the party. oh well.

thanks

had a great conversation with my roommate tonight. reminded me of how grateful i am for good friends. it is nice to speak my mind without fear of judgement. to have friends who "get it" is a blessing. glad to be living in the house i'm in and hope i'm the kind of friend i appreciate. thanks friends.

p.s. thanksgiving was pretty great too. details to come.
