ragnar revisited

A few years ago I ran the Wasatch Back with some friends.
It was great.
It also took a few years before I could agree to doing it again.

***************

This weekend I ran the Southern California Ragnar.
200 miles from Ventura to Dana Point.

It was fun.
And exhausting.

Maybe in a few years I'll run another.
Maybe.

*sick* day

I set my alarm for 3:37 this morning to call in sick. Actually I sent a text message informing my company of my "illness". The "illness" I've come down with is a LONG week with A LOT of homework, A 199 mile relay race and a singles conference. Woo woo! I know you are all jealous of the singles conference.

Now I'll stop blogging and get moving on that homework. And I'll try to ignore the little bit of guilt I feel for calling in sick.

El Lay Easter

I have been trying to take advantage of my long weekends while I still have them. Easter weekend I went up to L.A. to stay with a friend and have myself a little staycation. My friend Dayna lives in Playa del Rey and another friend Amanda lives in Santa Monica. It was great to see both of them and to relax in a city that is always moving. Here are the highlights of my trip:

Can't ever resist this place, even when I try my best. This is my very
favorite cupcake. Vanilla Bean.

A drive up the PCH, stopping at Malibu hot spots to catch at least one celebrity sighting. Yes, he is good looking in person. Especially when playing with his child. *sigh*

After spending time with the L.A. MSA (Mid-Single Adults)* group watching LDS General Conference I experienced my first.....
earthquake. I thought I was just dizzy so I sat down. Then someone pointed out what was happening. It is like being on a boat, rocking back and forth. I am a little disappointed I wasn't in SD to feel it more. And yes, I am finally getting on that 72 hour kit I've been meaning to put together.

Hope your Easter was happy.

P.S. One of my favorite talks was given by Silverfox (have a friend who named him that and I think it is hilarious)

*More to come on an interesting conversation I had with a fellow MSA about singles in the LDS Church. Are you on the edge of your seats? I'm sure you are....

eye, eye, eye!

The last weekend in March I went to Utah to attend the wedding of my beautiful friend Lisa. I kept my visit on the down low since it was a quick trip but had planned on a few good visits with friends and family. Unfortunately, I spent most of the weekend at the hospital with my baby brother who had an ulcer on his cornea. Poor kid. He is on the mend and feeling a little better these days but was in a lot of pain while I was there. I know he'd appreciate happy thoughts sent his way. Even in the pain he loved the early birthday present I brought him and insisted on wearing it. In case you can't see it is a picture of Prince Charming and says, "Sorry girls, I'm taken." Ha! Love it.

Poor kid was feeling so crappy but still posed for the camera. I was glad I was able to be home to stay with him. Adore him!

I did manage to see a few friends when I wasn't at the hospital or sleeping. Breakfast with Sue and my new favorite set of twins, dinner with Sandy at the Metropolitan (dinner=disaster, company=fabulous), and of course the beautiful bride and temple square in Spring.

Dinner at the Metropolitain...or maybe just WAITING for dinner

Waiting for the bride and groom, trying not to freeze.

Sadly, my pictures with the bride did not turn out. Big bummer. Just know she looked fabulous! Next trip to Utah will be for the Little Red Riding Hood Century in June. Until then...

eat-shop-laugh

I've never read the book Eat Pray Love but I have it on good authority it is a pile of crizzap. Real life involves fun weekends with good friends where eat-shop-laugh are the priorities. An old roommate and good friend came to visit in February and we did all of those and then some. This was her second visit to see me since I've lived here so some of you, wait MOST of you have some catching up to do. We had a great time, I'm still shocked we spent 5 hours at one mall. 5 HOURS! Guess when you are having fun time really does fly. Good friends are indeed good for the soul. Thanks for coming to visit SheRoos! And thanks for sending her HeRoos!

My favorite fish taco place.

Before our night out...aka the movies.

green

While I was driving to work this morning I saw an old man in a polyester lime green suit. With a white shirt and a bright salmon colored tie and handkerchief. I wanted to take a picture so I could remember it forever but I was driving. I won't do it justice by describing it. It was true vintage. And hilarious!! Put a smile on my face. I might start stalking that neighborhood to get a second glimpse.
